Of all the Republican candidates running for POTUS, Donald Trump is absolutely the worst choice, yet he has a lot of conservatives fooled with his “talk” — because that’s all he is — TALK.

First of all, I apologize for the “length” of the following comment. I make it only to provide some perspective on this subject in light of the days in which we live.
In the mid 1600’s, England went through a military coup de’tat known as Pride’s Purge. Without going into too much historical detail, this coup de’tat was led by Christians who wanted to “bring godliness” to the nation. They ended up eliminating the Monarchy and the Lord of Commons and basically gave themselves total rule over the country. They also established strict laws against homosexuality, adultery and such like that were punishable by death. To make a long story short, it turned out to be a total governmental disaster for England. After 5 years of rule, it culminated with the actions of the “Musketeers” initiating what is now known as “The Ousting of the Rump Parliament”! In it’s aftermath, there were men in government who basically held the opinion that the Rump Parliament was led by men of high character and good intentions, but who really knew little in terms of running a nation politically on the world scene.
Though I agree with the basic Christian ideas expressed here, a Christian President is not necessarily God’s choice in this present day world. We must trust His wisdom over our own and pray for His will to be done.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:7-8)
“For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.” (Psalms 75:6-7)
Thank you for the great insight. While I agree that God is the One who sets up and casts down rulers, given our form of government (which in its initial and intended form is a gift and a blessing of God), that does not negate our Christian responsibilities in striving to elect godly leaders. Indeed, as Chief Justice John Jay said, it is the duty and responsibility “to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.” Ultimately, God will put in place whom He wills.
By the way, weren’t the “Musketeers” French? š
Ha! Yes, I probably shouldn’t have capitalized the word “Musketeer” as that has the popularized implication of the “Three Musketeers” which were French. In actuality, musketeers were any armed militia that were proficient in the use of muskets and were found in China, India, Spain, Russia and even Turkey (to name a few).
Cheers! š
